Adult Swim Lessons
Are you afraid of the water? Do your kids swim better than you? or do you want to feel more comfortable with your swim skills? Consider taking
this short course.


Aqua Fitness
Formerly Flex and Stretch
This low to medium shallow water workout will focus on flexibility, range of motion, muscles toning, and stress relief. Perfect for those who are older, over-weight, pregnant, or a beginning exerciser. Also great for those with arthritis, fibromylagia, or other health concerns. We will occasionally use noodles to enhance our workouts (provided by instructor).


Daytime Aqua Dynamics
This shallow water class includes upbeat music and a challenging fun routine to get you sweating in unbeatable style. Pick up a parking permit at the Community Education Office.


Family Swim
Come enjoy swimming at your local school district pool as a family. Participates must be able to swim or an adult must accompany them. Minimum water depth is 42 inches. Participants must furnish their own towel and swim suit. One lap lane is available during family swim. Free admission to PHS sporting events on appropriate nights.

Pool may close if not enough participants show up. Please come at the start of family swim.


In the Deep!
Formerly Deep Water Exercise
You must be able to swim and be comfortable in deep water. An additional
fee of $25 for the purchase of water cuffs (to be worn as a belt or on ankles) will be required. Get your heart rate pumping and muscles toned in this motivational class that uses the resistance of the water for a great work out.


Lap Swim
Come swim lasp at the PHS pool every Wednesday evening Enjoy an excellent
but low impact activity. Must be in high school or older to attend.


Saturday Morning Swim Lessons
Children’s swimming lessons, Level 1 thru Level 6 meet on Saturday mornings at the PHS pool. Students must be 44 inches tall to register. Please note the class level on the registration form.

LEARN TO SWIM
The American Red Cross offers six comprehensive course levels that teach your child how to swim skillfully and safely. The prerequisite for each level is the successful demonstration of the skills from the preceding level, except for Level 1, which has no prerequisite.

Level 1 – Intro to Water Skills
Participants learn to: Enter and exit water safely, float on front and back, open eyes underwater, submerge to pick up an object, submerge mouth, nose and eyes; explore arm and hand movements, exhale underwater, explore swimming on front and back, use a life jacket, follow basic water safety rules.

Level 2 – Fundamental Aquatic Skills
Participants learn to: Exit water using ladder or side, tread water, glide on front and back, float on front and back, explore swimming on side, roll over from front to back and back to front, enter water by stepping or jumping from the side, open eyes underwater, submerge head to retrieve object, swim on front and back using combined strokes, move in water while wearing life jacket and perform rhythmic breathing.

Level 3- Stroke Development
Participants learn to: Jump into deep water from the side, perform rotary breathing, perform butterfly kick and body motion, change from vertical to horizontal position on front and back, dive from sitting or kneeling position, survival float, perform HELP and huddle positions, submerge fully and retrieve object, swim front crawl, perform reaching assists, bob with head fully submerged, swim back crawl, and use Check-Call-Care in an emergency.

Level 4- Stroke Improvement
Participants learn to: Dive from compact or stride position, swim breaststroke, tread water using sculling arm motions and kick, swim underwater, swim elementary backstroke, use safe diving rules, perform throwing assists, perform feet-first surface dive, swim on side using scissors kick, care for conscious choking victim, coordinate butterfly, perform open turns on front and back, perform compact jump into water from a height while wearing a life jacket.

Level 5 – Stroke Refinement
Provides further coordination and refinement of the front crawl, elementary backstroke, back crawl, sidestroke, breaststroke and butterfly.

Level 6 – Swimming and Skill Proficiency
Refines all six strokes and prepares students to participate in more advanced courses.


Registration deadline is Friday, Sept. 19. Adequate lead-time is required to plan for class size and instructors. Any registration received after Sept. 19 is not guaranteed a spot and will be assessed a $5 late fee.


Water Works!
Formerly Wet & Wild Challenge
This medium to high shallow water workout will focus on muscle resistance
and cardiovascular conditioning with motivational moves and routines. This energetic class will work off stress while toning muscles and building endurance. We will occasionally use noodles (provided by the instructor) to enhance our workout fun.
